A Graduate Research Assistantship is available in the Water Resources Graduate Program () at Oregon State听University starting in Summer 2019. The successful applicant will pursue a PhD and听will join the Community Snow Observations () project, a NASA-funded听project conducted by the University of Alaska, University of Washington, and Oregon State University. The听research assistant (RA) will be responsible for carrying out high-resolution, energy balance modeling of snow听processes in mountain environments, with emphasis on innovative assimilation techniques for model听improvement. Preferred qualifications include a background in water resources engineering, physical hydrology,听or cryospheric science; skills in Fortran, Matlab or Python; and familiarity with processing of large geospatial听datasets. An ability to operate (skis, snowshoes, or splitboard) independently in remote winter environments is听necessary. An ability to operate well in a collaborative environment is essential.
